This variety of rice was being grown in the nineteenth century, and has been preserved by genealogical selection at Sueca Rice Station (Valencia) since 1929. It is called by many, the "King De Arroces" for its excellent culinary quality.
This is a premium Spanish-grown Bomba from the Albufera region of Valencia, produced to a high standard so that it offers greater consistency and cooking tolerance, particularly where chefs need the grain to absorb flavour while still holding its structure. After being cooked the grain does not split open lengthways. It does not form stodgy lumps and has very pleasant flavour and resistance. The cooking time is 15 minutes and absorbs 250% of water.
