Antonella tomatoes are produced by Casar Srl, the only tomato-canning company in Sardinia, founded in 1962 and still run as a family business. Casar works exclusively with Sardinian farmers, ensuring a fully traceable supply chain that preserves the island’s agricultural identity and flavour.
They are grown in the fertile volcanic soils of Sardinia, a terroir that imparts distinct mineral richness and a natural sweetness. Cultivation is entirely seasonal, with a single harvest each year from August to mid-September. The tomatoes are picked at their peak ripeness, then processed and canned within 12 hours, locking in freshness and preserving their vibrant colour and flavour.
This seasonal cycle means the fruit develops fully under the Mediterranean sun, concentrating sugars and acidity for a perfectly balanced tomato—qualities that year-round or hothouse-grown tomatoes can’t match.
